The United Nations Security Council is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations and is considered as the UN’s most powerful body. The UN charter gives primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security to the Security Council, which may meet whenever peace is threatened. All members of the United Nations agree to accept and carry out the decisions of the Security Council. While other organs of the United Nations make recommendations to member states, only the Security Council has the power to make decisions that member states are then obligated to implement under the Charter. The Historic SC is a simulation wherein the SC runs in tandem with it’s powers to solve a particular historic crisis in order to ensure international peace. The HSC has a different timeline based on the historic event chosen and hence allows the delegates to rewrite history as the deliberate on issues of the past!
